Becky Lee, Isolated in
open rooms, 2016
Acrylic on panel 18x24
Isolation explores
the way modern people are letting technology take over their lives and how it
is resulting in an unhealthy relationship with cellphones and less contact with
real people. We are living in a world where we would rather stare at our phones
while we are out to dinner with friends and family than talk to the people in
front of us.
In today’s society we are engrossed with our technological
world more than our real one. In 2000 the number of mobile phone subscribers
was 500 million. In 2012 that number jumped to 4.5 billion.
The exhibition is Becky Lee’s senior capstone project. Becky
is a junior pursuing her bachelor of Fine Arts degree and will graduate in the
spring of 2018. Her artwork has been displayed in the outer gallery in MSU
Billings several times and currently has works on display.
There will be a catered reception from 5-7pm on Thursday
March 2nd at the Student Gallery located in the Liberal Arts
building at Montana State University Billings. The exhibition and
reception are free and open to the public. On campus parking is free after 5pm.
Gallery hours are 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday.
